Welcome to Our School
Welcome to Gilden Woods Troy, a nurturing daycare and preschool serving children ages 6 weeks–12 years across the Troy, Rochester, Rochester Hills, and Sterling Heights communities. We’re proud to provide a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive everyday.
We offer Infants, Toddlers, Twos, Preschool, Pre-K, and School-Age programs, with flexible full-time, part-time, Summer Camp, and drop-in Care options. We also proudly offer the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), a free, state-funded Pre-K program for eligible 4-year-olds. Children can further enrich their day with engaging add-on programs such as Spanish and Soccer, bringing movement, language, and fun into their daily routine.
Our staff brings over 100 years of combined experience and is CPR and First Aid certified. Families love the strong sense of belonging at our school, where teachers build meaningful relationships with children and parents, and where children gain confidence, independence, and social skills that help them thrive.

Kristin Hoover, Director
Education: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education
I have worked in early childhood education for more than 20 years. Throughout my career, I have taught Toddlers, Early Preschool, Preschool, and Pre-K before stepping into the Assistant Director role in 2023. As School Director, I have enjoyed building relationships with our families, supporting our wonderful teachers, and staying actively involved in our classrooms each day. I am committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive.

Candace Smith-Spens, Assistant Director
I have worked in early childhood education for more than 15 years and am passionate about helping children learn, grow, and reach important milestones. I enjoy supporting teachers with curriculum implementation, child assessments, and classroom management to create engaging learning experiences. One of my favorite parts of my role is planning fun family events that bring our school community together and strengthen the connections between home and school.
